RIHEL Excellence in Leadership Alumni Awards

Nominations to be considered for award in October

RIHEL is proud to recognize the contributions of its Alumni by conferring awards honoring meritorious service in the field of Public Health and/or Environment.  The Alumni of the Advanced Leadership Training Program recognized for these awards must truly represent the ideals and reflect the mission of RIHEL.  The Excellence in Leadership Alumni Awards will be granted to Alumni who have made significant professional impact in the fields of environmental or public health, either regionally, nationally or internationally.

 

These individual awards may not be given every year and may be alternated or, if no candidate is identified, deferred until the next year.  Awards will be granted during the annual alumni event in Aspen in October or another official RIHEL event.

 

Eligibility for Award Nomination

  1. Any alumnus of the RIHEL Advanced Leadership Training Program is eligible to receive an Excellence in Leadership Alumni Award.

  2. The Excellence in Leadership Alumni Awards may be given in two categories each year for outstanding and meritorious service in the field of Public Health or the Environment to:
         a.  An alumnus serving in an environmental-related, and
        
    b.  An alumnus serving in a public health-related field

  3. The work of the individuals chosen must have made an outstanding contribution to the well-being of people and/or the environment.

  4. Candidates must show mature and effective professional skills, leadership ability, and vision.

  5. Candidates should not be currently serving on the RIHEL Alumni Awards Committee

  6. A nomination must come from fellow RIHEL alums. No self nominations will be accepted.

 

Guidelines for Award Nomination

 

Any current fellow or alumnus may submit nominations for the award.
  1. Nominations will be accepted on a rolling basis.  However, nominations that wish to be considered for award in October of this year must be received by August 31st.  An existing Alumni Awards Committee will select the awardees and awards to be granted.

Brief Description of Merit

  • Please describe the nominee's merits for this award. For what reason (accomplishment, contribution, etc.) are you nominating this person?  For example, submissions could address the following:
    • Originality and innovation in approach of service to the public's health or environment
    • use of leadership principles and alliances
    • Demonstration of exemplary leadership
    • Achievement of public health or environmental outcomes
    • Personal courage or commitment to the betterment of health and the environment
